DELIVERY INFO
WHAT ARE THE DELIVERY TIMINGS FOR UK ORDERS?
STANDARD UK delivery
Within 5 business days (timeframe accounts for production, packing and courier).
FAST TRACK UK delivery
Usually 2 business days, but no more than 3 (timeframe accounts for production, packing and courier). FAST TRACK deliveries can be tracked with DPD or UPS, via your Shipping Confirmation email.
WHAT ARE THE DELIVERY TIMINGS FOR INTERNATIONAL ORDERS?
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: usually takes around 7-10 days with Fed Ex International Connect Plus, a fully trackable service. (timeframe accounts for production, packing and courier). Please email us if you would prefer to ship with DHL or UPS.
DO I NEED TO PAY IMPORT DUTIES IF I'M OUTSIDE THE UK?
UK VAT isn't added to international orders - your prices will auto-update once you enter your delivery address at checkout.
You might need to pay import duties or taxes when your order arrives in your country. These are set locally and are paid directly to the courier.
We recommend double-checking your country's import rules and typical customs fees before ordering. If a parcel is refused and returned because duties/taxes weren't paid, we're unable to issue a refund.
WHY IS MY ORDER STILL SHOWING 'UNFULFILLED'?
If your order status shows as 'Unfulfilled' don't worry, it means your backdrop is in production and is on track to be delivered within your chosen timeframe. No need to chase!
BACKDROP INFO
WHAT ARE THE BACKDROP SIZES AND MATERIALS?
Our backdrop sizes:
- A1 - approx 84 x 60 cm (2.8 x 2.0 ft)
- A0 - approx 120 x 84 cm (4.0 x 2.8 ft)
- XL - approx 150 x 101 cm (4.9 x 3.3 ft) (this is the max size we can print)
We print on both vinyl and sustainable paper:
High-grade waterproof vinyl - (available in lighter or extra-thick)
Our durable, go-to material for busy photographers and food stylists - just roll and go! Quick to wipe-clean, even after the messiest shoot. Guarantees a completely smooth, glare-free finish.
Sustainable paper (A1 only)
A more affordable, yet high quality alternative, ideal for macro photography straight on the backdrop. Our sustainable matte paper is sturdy and durable with some water resistance. Easily recycled after use, it's a brilliant eco-friendly option.
Please note: if you're ordering multiple backdrops in the same design, we recommend choosing the same material to ensure an exact colour match.
HOW DO I STORE AND CARE FOR MY BACKDROPS?
Easy to store
If you've got the space, it's best to store your backdrops flat. Otherwise, it's fine to keep them lightly rolled inside their original cardboard tube. To help colour and finish stay perfect, avoid storing your backdrops in very hot or sunlit rooms for long periods of time.
Easy to clean
A quick wipe with a damp cloth keeps your vinyl clean and pristine. Steer clear of scratchy scourers and cleaning sprays. Do be careful with hot items and foods like turmeric or beetroot as these may leave a mark or stain.
HOW ARE THE BACKDROPS DESIGNED AND PRODUCED?
Every backdrop starts with real materials and natural light
Each texture is photographed using a professional full-frame camera, capturing true-to-life colour and detail - definitely no stock imagery or AI, just us out and about on texture-hunting trips! Our graphic designs are created by BVS Founder, Sophie, in Adobe Illustrator.
Why do designs sometimes look different on A0 and XL backdrops?
All our designs are carefully enlarged by repeating the image. This industry standard method keeps the print sharp and the pattern perfect. No blur or pixelation - just beautifully detailed, high resolution designs, printed between 100-200MP for premium quality.
This means you'll see more of the pattern at A0 and XL - just like how a patterned duvet cover shows more of the design than a cushion cover.
IS EVERY DESIGN IN STOCK?
Our backdrops are made to order, rather than pre-stocked. This allows us to offer a much wider range of designs and sizes without needing storage space, and it means we never overprint or need to worry about leftover stock going to waste.
It may take a little longer for your backdrops to dispatch, but the benefit is that each one is freshly printed and posted - no shelf time!

I'VE CHANGED MY MIND - CAN I CANCEL OR CHANGE MY ORDER?
As your backdrop is custom made to order, we're very sorry, but once you've received your Order Confirmation email, it means production has started and we're unable to cancel, or amend designs.
If you've had a change of mind or made a mistake while ordering, you would need to place a new order and return the original item once you've received it, so we can process it under our Refund Policy. Please do get in touch here as soon as you can.
MY ORDER ARRIVED DAMAGED
We're really sorry to hear that, we do our very best to ensure everything arrives perfectly for you. If any part of your order arrives damaged or faulty, please let us know straight away at hello@blackvelvetstyling.com - please attach some photographs and we'll quickly arrange a replacement.
RETURNS + EXCHANGES
REFUND POLICY
We accept returns on standard backdrops within 14 days of the delivery date. Items must arrive back with us within this 14 day period.
If you've had a change of mind or made a mistake while ordering, you would need to place a new order and return the original item once you've received it, so we can process it under our Refund Policy. Please do get in touch here as soon as you can.
Return postage costs
We strongly recommend using a tracked service and keeping proof of postage. Return postage costs are the customer's responsibility.
Return packaging
Returned items should be packaged carefully and must arrive in unused and original condition. Items that show signs of use such as marks, stains, creasing or colour wear may not be eligible for a refund.
Items that are returned damaged cannot be refunded unless the damage was reported at the time of delivery. If you're returning an item, please make every effort to securely repack it in the original tube or equivalent protective packaging. We can't refund items that arrive back to us damaged in transit as we're not responsible for any damage that occurs during return delivery.
Delivery refusals aren't considered valid returns. Please use a tracked service to ensure safe return.
Refund processing
Once your return has been received we’ll notify you of its acceptance. Refunds are processed to the original payment method and take around 5-7 days.
I've paid with Klarna - how do returns work?
If you still have outstanding instalments after the return, they will be automatically adjusted by Klarna to reflect your return.
In cases where you have no remaining instalments after the return, Klarna will cancel any future scheduled payments.
If a refund is due after acceptance of the return, Klarna will process the refund back to the credit or debit card that you used to pay your first instalment, usually within 10 working days.
