Our printed backgrounds – in sheets and mounted on boards - are standard A1 size – 594 x 841 mm or 23.4 x 33.1 inches (with slight variants due to cutting tolerances)
This means you can easily buy our paper background sheets and apply them to A1 card and foamex at home, or MDF/plyboard if you prefer to. See our ‘how to mount' tips on the blog.
Mounted Printed Photography Backgrounds
Our mounted and sealed photography backgrounds are professionally applied to high quality 12mm thick plyboard.
We use plyboard as it is longer lasting than MDF and at 12mm it should never bend or twist.
A matt, water resistant sealant is applied to all of our mounted boards making a reusable, wipe clean surface that should last a long time if cared for correctly.
There is a cutting tolerance of +/-5mm on the printed sheets but as we need to have custom packaging made (and bought in bulk!) we have to set a standard size for the plyboard. When the sheet size is slightly smaller than the board we will mount to have at least 2 perfect edges - a long edge and a short edge and there may be a small area of bare board on the other 1 or 2 edges.
The boards as also sanded around all edges and the corners 'softened' to reduce the risk of the pointy, hardened and sealed corners catching on things and flicking up away from the board.
If you are applying your own backdrop sheets to a board/foamboard I recommend waiting until you have the sheet and cutting the board/foamboard to exactly the same size or 2mm over. See our ‘how to mount' tips on the blog.
Items may vary in colour to how you see them on screen – we try to give as much visual information about our designs as possible by photographing them in different lighting, with and without props and in close detail.
Care & Storage
Store your photography backgrounds in a dry room with an ambient heat. Do not store in direct sunlight, near heaters or radiators or in a damp environment.
Paper sheets should be stored completely flat, faced down on a clean and smooth surface.
Boards should be stored flat or standing against a dry wall almost perfectly upright, flat against the wall (not leaning too much).
Boards are protected with a matt polyurethane coat to allow them to endure small food spills and wiping with a cloth dampened with water only. Do no use any chemicals to clean your board.
