Shipping Information and T&Cs of sale

Orders are dispatched Monday to Thursday.

Any orders placed after 1pm on a Thursday will be sent out the next dispatching day, the following Monday (exc UK bank holidays).

Our online shop, customer service and social channels will remain open and on hand to help on Fridays - only order dispatching is changing.

Our office hours remain the same; 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (exc UK bank holidays).

If you have any questions or need help placing your order in time please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Please ensure you understand these terms and conditions of sale before placing your order.  International customers please take note of the VAT/customs charges section.  

 

Order by 1pm (UK) Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for same day dispatch on in stock items 

  • Orders placed after 1pm will be dispatched the next dispatching day. 
  • Any tracking details will be advised with your dispatch confirmation.
  • Royal Mail 1st Class service is not tracked.  The reference number sent with your dispatch confirmation is for our proof of postage and delivery confirmation only.
  • Please ensure your contact details are correct and we have a phone number for you in case of any delivery problems.
  • Please understand – we can only control our dispatch times  - delivery times may vary at the responsibility of the courier and we always recommend having a plan B if your shoot is relying on a last minute backdrop delivery.
  • International customers  -
    • no duties or charges will be payable in your country if you choose DHL shipping. 
    • If using Royal Mail please check any local taxes/customs charges in your country before ordering as we can't be held responsible for any charges applied after shipping and can't refund shipping fees if you refuse to pay any charges in your country and the parcel is returned to us.
  • If your order can't be delivered for any reason and is returned to us we can not refund the outward shipping costs and you may be responsible for the return costs also.  To avoid this please ensure your contact and address details are correct when you checkout and on your order confirmation and dispatch emails.
  • 2022 UK bank holidays when we will be out-of-office and not dispatching orders - 15/4, 18/4, 2/5, 2/6, 3/6, 29/8, 19/9, 26/12, 27/12

VAT, CUSTOMS CHARGES & DUTIES

Black Velvet Styling is a trading name and registered trade mark of Olson Handling Limited, registered in England and Wales 11306279. Our VAT registration number is 342136432.

For UK customers VAT is included in our prices.  

For all other countries VAT is not charged but the price remains similar or the same to cover duties and taxes that are applied by DHL and charged back to us when our goods enter your country. 

  • When you choose DHL shipping you will not incur any further customs or duties charges after completing your purchase on our site. 
  • European customers using Royal Mail shipping may still be charged duties and tax in your country.   Please ensure you are happy to pay any local charges before ordering - if you refuse to pay them and the order is returned to us we can only refund the cost of the products less our outward and return shipping costs.

 

European customers & EORI

For business customers in Europe we now need your EORI number please so there aren't any delays at customs.  You can enter this in the notes box at checkout or email us at hello@blackvelvetstyling.com

Failure to supply this information could lead to delays and extra charges out of our control.

DHL Express, 1-2 working days, calculated at checkout direct from DHL (no duties or taxes to pay)

 

USA

DHL Express, 1-2 working days, calculated at checkout direct from DHL (no duties or taxes to pay)

 

Canada

DHL Express, 2-3 working days, calculated at checkout direct from DHL (no duties or taxes to pay)

 

Australia

DHL Express, 2-3 working days, calculated at checkout direct from DHL(no duties or taxes to pay)

All other areas are calculated by weight at checkout by DHL. 

 

      Shipping options for custom A1 mounted boards, A1 hand-painted boards and still life, 160x100cm canvases will be calculated by weight at checkout by the DHL.  Or please get in touch for larger orders/different sizes and we may be able to get a better price with an alternative courier.

      Larger items are not available for overseas shipping via the website - please get in touch to discuss your requirements so we can provide a shipping quote.

        

      DAMAGES & RETURNS

      What if my order arrives damaged?

      We do our best to pack and protect everything so it arrives as it left, but if any part of your order arrives damaged please let us know straight away by email with photographs and we will seek compensation and/or arrange a replacement.

       

      How do I return something?

      We hope that you will enjoy using your new backdrops, but if you aren't satisfied with your purchase or need to return it for any reason, you can return the product in its original packaging in perfect, unused condition within 30 days of purchase to get a full refund on your items. 

      Please download and print a returns form for your order from your account section.

      You will find instructions for packaging your parcel on the returns form and below - please read this carefully to ensure the products arrive back to us safely and in good condition to receive a refund.

      We must be in receipt of your returned items within 30 days of the purchase date. 

      As a small business return postal costs to return items can't be refunded sorry. We recommend using a tracked or signed service and getting proof of postage.

      Once your return has been received we will notify you of the acceptance of the items. Refunds are processed via the original payment method within 7 days. 

       

      Packaging your returns 

      Please roll all items carefully and secure in the original tissue paper to stop them expanding in the tube.

      If the parcel tube has plastic end caps both end caps must be in place and secured with tape. This is very important as without tape they can get caught on other mail and come off leaving the contents free to fall out.

      If the tube is plastic free please ensure the tissue paper covers the ends of the product so that you can tape over the tucked ends of the tube without sticking to the contents.

       

      Can I exchange something?

      Unfortunately our website can't facilitate exchanges. The best way to exchange something is to return your item and add a note that it is for exchange.

      If you need to speed things up you may be best to order again before waiting for us to exchange an item.
